What We Believe

"What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us." - A.W. Tozer

Core Beliefs

Who is God

We believe God exists and that He created the universe in all its fullness.  He sustains all things and holds all of creation together.  He created man (male and female) in His image.  He is present everywhere, desires a relationship with each of us, and responds to prayer offered in faith.  He is the One True God and the Father of Jesus Christ.

Who is Jesus

We believe that Jesus Christ is God the Son, who gave His life as the Savior of the world.  He lived a perfect sinless life, He died on the cross, and was raised from the dead according to the scriptures and the witness of the early believers.  His kingdom was initiated at His birth and will someday culminate in the destruction of the ungodly; all evil and even death itself, will be destroyed.  According to Revelation, every knee will bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is King of Kings and Lord of Lords, forever.

Who is Holy Spirit

We believe that God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit are co-equal persons of the Triune God.  This mysterious nature of God is referred to as the Holy Trinity.  The Holy Spirit is not an ‘impersonal force.'  He is the Comforter who comes along side us.  He is the one who convinces and convicts men and women of sin.  He leads believers into truth and His redemptive purpose is expressed by leading people to faith in Jesus Christ.  He indwells believers and empowers them to live a godly life.  He gives believers spiritual gifts so the body of Christ is fully equipped to advance the Kingdom of Jesus Christ.

Need for Salvation

We believe that men and women are sinners by birth and by choice.  Each person is created in the image of God, but because of sin that image is marred.  Each person can only be righteous in God’s sight by the atonement provided by the substitutionary death of Jesus Christ on the cross.  It is God’s will that all men and women come into a relationship with Him by accepting the work of Christ and personally acknowledging their need for a Savior.  A new lifestyle emerges as eternal life takes root.

Bible is the standard

We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God through which God reveals Himself to man.  The Bible is the only authoritative Word of God to show us how to believe and live.  By reading it each person finds wisdom, truth, faith, purity and power.

What is the Church

We believe the church is made up of people of every race, of every country, from all times, who believe in and have called out to Jesus Christ for salvation.  Together these people constitute the church.  The church, therefore, is not a building but a body and its members are called the body of Christ.  In addition, we believe God instituted the local church which is a gathering of believers in a local area.  We believe there are three basic purposes for the creation of the local church.  First, the local church should be a place of corporate Worship, where believers gather to exalt the name of our God together.  Second, the local church is called to Evangelism; to go into the world and teach and preach about Jesus and to call people to repentance and faith in Christ.  Third, the local church is called to Encourage one another.  We believe that every activity of the church should seek to fulfill one or more of these purposes.
